“For the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand”

Matthew 4: 17From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

The first words of Jesus in his pubic ministry as recorded in Matthew was a call to repentance to the reality that the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand. But what does this really mean? In the greek this phrase is translated ” Change your perspective for the one who holds the royal power of the universe is in your midst.” What an amazing reality!! Jesus Christ, the royal power of the universe is in our midst, the only thing keeping us from seeing him is our own faith that the God of the universe would care enough to touch our lives personally.   But how sad that so often I have missed this. We often miss the incredible reality of Jesus in our midst not because he is not moving, but because we are to consumed with the ordinary. A great mentor of mine recently told me, ” you will never find Jesus and His Kingdom in the future, until you find Jesus and His Kingdom today.” This has been the motivating verse of my life these days. For to long I found myself seeking God for some distant personal agenda for my future, rather than seeking Jesus in the present. Rather now I awake each day anxiously anticipating Jesus and His Kingdom in my midst and learning to be a child of the Kingdom.  And what incredible things Jesus has shown me!!! How would our lives look if truly we recognize Jesus in our midst and join him in His Kingdom work today?

How is Jesus calling you into his Kingdom today? Maybe for many of us it starts with changing our realties to see Jesus, the royal power of the universe  in our midst! That the God of the universe wants to intimately interact with your life in this moment!
